Wow. I just finished watching the Discovery Channel documentary: Black Sky: The Race for Space. That must be one of the most moving documentaries I've ever seen. I was almost brought to tears a few times while watching it (which means a lot considering it's about spaceships).
The documentary is all about the journey of sending man to space, that is through private organizations and not huge governments or corporations. That truly is a momentous achievement for mankind. I heard about Scaled Composites winning the X Prize in the news and even saw them on Jay Leno, but only after watching this film do I fully appreciate what they were able to accomplish.
They proved that you don't need the biggest governments or corporations, multi-million dollar equipment and facilities, or extreme amounts of money to fulfill the dream of sending man to space. They dreamed and they lived to see their dream come true.
The documentary captures the spirit of human ambition, dedication, and achievement. It was an awesome film. I hope a lot of people get to see it. (I downloaded it from a torrent. I believe it's on DVD as well.)
