Just a smile

I wanna tell you everything easily
Won't you come up closer
I want to
Hear you breathe

I'm walking down the street
I'm lost at sea
But out of the crowd you smile
And you're all I see

You make me feel like I
Can get lost inside your eyes
I feel closer to the sky
When you save the day
With just a smile
Just a smile

I wanna meet you someday soon
Cause I know you in my mind
Everything will be different
When I have you right beside

You can take the whole wide world
With your boyish charm
But even as you pull me close
I want to stay in your arms

You make me feel like I
Can get lost inside your eyes
I feel closer to the sky
When you save the day
With just a smile

Well it's for you
And everyone
I thought I've searched the world in vain
Now look at me
And the search is done
We will never be the same
Not the same

You make me feel like I
Can get lost inside your eyes
I feel closer to the sky
When you save the day
With just a smile

Oh you make me feel like I
Can get lost inside your eyes
I feel closer to the sky
When you save the day
With just a smile

Just a smile
A smile
Just a smile

Mythbusters: Jaws Special

This is how you build a cult following. Put a nice looking chick in a nerd's show and you have instant fame. I was wondering why there was a chick in Mythbusters' shark week special (which locally aired on the same Sunday it did in the states). I was offended that they had a good looking female co-host on a highly publicized episode. It turns out, she's been on the show for quite some time now. She was the butt model for the vacuum toilet episode which they've aired locally. That was also her debut on the show. Interestingly, there are supposed to be three additional female builders on the show, but as far as I can recall we've only seen Kari. But still, I'm sure she's qualified and all, but while watching the episode it was obvious that she was there for the charm. Ang pa-cute niya!

Chasing the black sky

Wow. I just finished watching the Discovery Channel documentary: Black Sky: The Race for Space. That must be one of the most moving documentaries I've ever seen. I was almost brought to tears a few times while watching it (which means a lot considering it's about spaceships).

The documentary is all about the journey of sending man to space, that is through private organizations and not huge governments or corporations. That truly is a momentous achievement for mankind. I heard about Scaled Composites winning the X Prize in the news and even saw them on Jay Leno, but only after watching this film do I fully appreciate what they were able to accomplish.

They proved that you don't need the biggest governments or corporations, multi-million dollar equipment and facilities, or extreme amounts of money to fulfill the dream of sending man to space. They dreamed and they lived to see their dream come true.

The documentary captures the spirit of human ambition, dedication, and achievement. It was an awesome film. I hope a lot of people get to see it. (I downloaded it from a torrent. I believe it's on DVD as well.)

I feel for Maria

I caught her loss to Venus Williams on TV. Wow, I've respect for this girl. She plays with heart. You can see her passion for the game. She has the heart of a champion. I'm impressed with her tenacity to improve herself. She self-criticizes, but even as she does, she knows that she will surely overcome her setbacks.

She'll be fine. She will be number one in time.

From the SFGate:

"I'm obviously very sad," she said. "This tournament means a lot to me, more than any other tournament. I guess there are more years to come."

The precocious Russian hasn't reached a major final since her surprising title run at Wimbledon a year ago. She still has a good chance to overtake Davenport for the No. 1 ranking during the upcoming hard-court season, but remains eager to improve.

"I need to be stronger," she said. "The stronger I get, the bigger my serve will be, the easier it will be for me to maybe hold serve and get more free points. But at 18, I don't think it's possible to have a huge consistent serve. I know with hard work and practice and repetition it will get bigger and stronger and more accurate."

At No. 13 last year, Sharapova became the lowest-seeded player to win the women's championship when she beat Serena Williams in the final. At No. 14, Venus is seeded even lower and, for a change, won't have to face her sister for the title.

Constantine on Elimidate

I was channel surfing yesterday when I thought I saw Constantine Maroulis of American Idol 4 fame on Elimidate. Well, it was him! You can view a clip of the show here. It takes quite a while to load though even on high bandwidth. He was still in college when he joined the show.

And if anyone is interested, Shana Hiatt, co-host of the World Poker Tour appeared in a Blind Date episode (introduced as a Hawaiian Tropic Girl). She was also in a 1994 Playboy video, The girls of Hawaiian Tropic: Naked in Paradise. She was crowned Miss Hawaiian Tropic USA and was a Playboy cover girl prior to the video. Mmm-hmm.
Actually, WPT champ Phil Gordon was also on Blind Date. He turned down a hot ditzy bikini model's offer to retreat to her hot tub. Well, okay.

And since we're on the topic, Jackass & Wildboyz star, Steve-o was also on Blind Date. He made a fool of himself and repelled his date away. He's a crazy guy, but he's also hopeless.

War of the worlds

Since Tom Mapother, more popularly known as Tom Cruise, has been in the news lately, his involvement with scientology has been mentioned every now and then. I've heard about scientology before but I don't know what the hell it is so I decided to check it out on the net.

Wow, Tom Cruise is such a schmuck! I've lost all respect for him.

I really hate misinformation and people scamming other people. It seems apparent that scientology just wants to milk dumb people. That is so below the belt.

Now I get what they were spoofing in Bowfinger.

Wow. The world just got dumber.

More Lost

It's confirmed. Michelle Rodriguez will be joining the cast next season. She was the girl Jack was talking to in a flashback. She was probably seated at the back of the plane so that could mean that the others did survive. More here.

For the Lost fanatics (who've finished the first season) check this out:

If you're one of the fans who thinks the Lost finale didn't give much bang with its season-ending blasts, try this on for size: A Website Easter egg planted by the producers that gives you a glimpse of what they're planning for the second season. Here's what you do:

1. Go to the "official" Oceanic Airlines Website.
2. At the bottom, where it says "Travellers," enter Hurley's unlucky lottery numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.
3. Click the "Find" button.
4. Click on the row numbers on the flight's seating chart that match Hurley's numbers.
5. Don't blink.
6. Change shorts.
7. Figure out what the hell it all means.

Nokia introduces 7 new handsets

At this rate, I'll never buy a new phone.

Nokia has introduced seven handsets under the theme 'simple pleasures' at the Nokia Connection event in Helsinki and Singapore. The new additions include four new slide phones, two folding designs and a traditional monoblock design.

The new models include the 6280, 6270, 6111, 6060, 6265, 2255 and the 2125 and are expected to begin shipping in the second half of 2005. More here.

My favorite is/are the Nokia 6270/80. The 6280 is more fancy with 3G support and 2 cameras, but I can live with the 6270. Other notable features of the 6270: quadband, Bluetooth, and it's a slide phone.

The cameras are now at 2 MPs! At this rate, I also won't be buying a digicam either.

Actually, the 6111's pretty good too. It's also a quadband slide phone with Bluetooth but the camera is set at 1 MP and it has a smaller screen.

Following SE's lead, the three above mentioned phones are all two-faced phones as well. (Meaning one side looks like a phone and the other side looks like a camera.. meaning you can shoot with the phone "on its side") As is the custom now days, they also include integrated flash LEDs.

Whew, I got a bit excited there.

new schoolyear plans/wishes

1. have my own set of notes...
2. study more harder! (-Langit, Lupa, Impyerno)
3. have no cuts
4. i won't be late
5. i'll pass requirements on time
6. outstanding performance in Strains pa rin...
7. no grades lower than B
8. get exempted
9. Pass my subjects!
10. DL! dean's list...hindi dream lang!

Home

Another summer day
Is come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

Maybe surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
I’m fine baby, how are you?
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aerorplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
This was not your dream
But you always believe in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
And even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel alone
Oh, let go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

Giddy as Cruise

What's wrong with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes? They seem so incredibly in love with each other. Most people think it's just a publicity stunt, but it could be real.

One thing I've noticed though is that both actors shake their heads whenever they're talking about the other person as if to say, I can't believe this is happening to me.. or I can't believe I'm doing this.

Regardless, you can't help but keep your eye on TomKat. Life is great for beautiful people.

Happy Hacking Keyboard

The people from Fujitsu are selling this keyboard and one of its features is that the keys have no markings. Cool, I like that. Very clean. I'm sure most of us can use this too. I mean, when was the last time you really looked at your keyboard. If I could, I'd erase the print on *this* keyboard too. That's hot.

Of course, it's supposed to be a state of the art keyboard so it has other features too. You can check it out here.

CARRIE!!!

I'm sorry I doubted you last week, but after your rendition of Angels brought me here, I knew you would make it. Congratulations! I've a feeling you'll break AI records in terms of album sales and concert attendance. I might not enjoy all the country music, but as long as you sing it, it sounds good enough.

In my opinion, you're the best American Idol ever.

Box, box, box

I was able to catch the last three episodes of The Contender. I regret not becoming a fan from the start especially after watching the finale. Wow, that's a good show. Good boxing! They had such a good finale too! No doubt, they'll have a rematch.

That's hot, and it's juicy too!

LOS ANGELES - A Web site touting Paris Hilton's racy television spot for burger chain Carl's Jr. crashed for four hours as Internet surfers raced to see the seductive swimsuit-clad socialite doused in suds.

The 30-second commercial, which features the hotel heiress washing a Bentley and chomping on Carl's Jr.'s Spicy BBQ Burger in a stringy black swimsuit, has generated media attention since hitting the TV airwaves last Thursday. whole story here.

Mossimo Bikini Summit

This is so sad.

It's always fun to watch beauty pageants. You get "pretty" people who flaunt their stuff. Some people think that these contests focus too much on physical appearance. Well I say, it's not so bad at all. The real gem in these "summits" are in the question & answer portions. That's where you find out how shallow and dumb these "beauties" are.

How do you justify glorifying your body? (and just your body because as the interviews show, that's all they really have) Reading through the answers and attitudes of the contestants you also get to differentiate between the dumb, the sluts, and the just plain clueless.

"I have a beautiful body and I will flaunt it for the country to see." Yes, we can all see your beautiful body. We can also see all the other interesting and worthwhile aspects of your life and personality--or the lack of it.

Amazing.

Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against beautiful bodies. I love them. I'm just against empty heads, shallow lives, and lifelong delusions.

Poor lil Jasmine

So Jasmine Trias is back in the country and she's going to make an OPM album. Gee, I wonder what happened?

I never liked her. She's such a fake Filipino. She has Filipino roots sure, but she ain't Filipino. She's back in the country and making an album because she doesn't have a chance in hell to make a career for herself in the states. That's so sad and pathetic. So, did you miss the mob that you ignored when you first got here?

You think you can start a career here? You can't either. You know why? Put simply, you aren't talented enough and you don't even have enough charisma.

Your fifteen minutes have passed. We aren't your seconds. No one even noticed you're back in the country. Stop pretending and get back to your US life.

From the first time I saw Misha Barton, I was a bit confused. She looks hot. She's pretty. But there's a catch.. she looks too much like a grown up Olsen twin. Can you see it?

And I don't know why, but there's just something wrong with thinking that an Olsen twin is hot.

Alfie

What’s it all about, Alfie?
Is it just for the moment we live?
What’s it all about when you sort it out, Alfie?
Are we meant to take more than we give
Or are we meant to be kind?

And if only fools are kind, Alfie,
Then I guess it is wise to be cruel.
And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie,
What will you lend on an old golden rule?
As sure as I believe there’s a heaven above, Alfie,

I know there’s something much more,
Something even non-believers can believe in.
I believe in love, Alfie.
Without true love we just exist, Alfie.
Until you find the love you’ve missed you’re nothing, Alfie.
When you walk let your heart lead the way
And you’ll find love any day, Alfie, Alfie.

Pepsi Fire & Ice

To support the launch, a special blockbuster commercial featuring two of Asia's biggest stars, Tata Young and Vanness Wu, was produced. In the commercial, Tata who represents the spirit of Pepsi Fire and Vanness who represents the spirit of Pepsi Ice are transported to the lost civilization of the Aztecs. [from Food & Beverage Singapore]

I liked the commercial a lot. Confirmed that the two people are Tata Young and Vaness F4. Great marketing! They came out with two drinks instead of just one. The two drinks' contrasting images are interesting too (though it doesn't take that long before you speculate that "ice" could probably be just Pepsi blue and "fire" could be a red Pepsi X). Nonetheless, the commercial makes me want to try out the drinks.

I LOVE LOST !

I absolutely love this show! I just finished downloading the second half of the season and I'm going to finish it tomorrow. I couldn't stand another week of waiting so I decided to download it.

God, I love this show. The story and concept is just brilliant. I love all the sub-stories and the plot twists. That weird sound where the lost logo appears on screen is so creepy. Galing!

Evangeline Lilly is so hot! Looked her up, she's smart too. She even served a humanitarian org and lived in the Philippine jungles. Wow! Well okay, that's worth another post.

Renee

I was watching Still Standing last night and the daughter caught my eye. I've a thing for red heads and she seemed like she had so much potential. Could be a future Nicole or Julianne. Checked out who she is on the net and lo and behold: it was Renee Olstead.

I've already posted something about Renee Olstead before and now I'm reposting. That elevates my fan status. To those who know who she is, I know she's really young. But you've got to agree she's a future hottie (and yes, I'm just saying future to be decent).

If you're not a Renee Olstead fan yet, 1) just look at her. Find more pictures or watch still standing if you want to, and 2) find her songs! Once you hear her sing, you'd be a fan too (and wish she was a lot older).

Nokia N91

Apple came up with the ipod, so Sony had to step up. Sony came up with the w800i, so Nokia had to catch up. And they did.

The Nokia N91 smartphone not only has a 2 megapixel camera, but more importantly it has a 4 GB memory. It's packed with all the usual features and has a convenient standard USB plug for easy file management. Oooh, that's hot.

So many new phones, no money. I haven't even bought a new phone yet. Geez.

Why do farts make noise?

The sounds are produced by vibrations of the anal opening. Sounds depend on the velocity of expulsion of the gas and the tightness of the sphincter muscles of the anus. Contrary to a popular misconception, fart noise is not generated by the flapping of the butt cheeks.

Oh my Giada

I've always loved Itallian.

Giada De Laurentiis is a private chef and caterer in Los Angeles and the founder of GDL Foods. Growing up in a large Italian family, Giada's passion for food was sparked as a child as she learned to prepare family recipes for their frequent gatherings. She became a professional chef after attending the famed Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Paris. After working in a variety of Los Angeles restaurants, including Wolfgang Puck's Spago, Giada started her own business.

pet peeves (for friendster)

1) Names with dashes. My list is no longer alphabetical. There are also people I don't want to be reminded of all the time.

2) Having deceiving pictures (fuzzy, odd angles, edited, distorted) What are you trying to hide?

3) No other picture other than solo shots. Worse: having only close up solo shots.

4) Wrong grammar. If you can't write English... *sigh*

5) Strangers who message you and say add me please.

6) Strangers of the same sex who message and just say "hi". Isn't that kind of odd?

7) Misinforming statuses.

8) Messages that are actually spam.

9) Garbage in the bulletin board.

10) Poorly written testimonials.

Big Blue Crush

I was still awake past one this morning and I saw Blue Crush for the first time. Cool movie. I love Kate Bosworth! I know I've posted something about her here already.

I went on the web to check her out and found some interesting info about her:

Throughout high school, Kate maintained academic excellence and was an honor role student and a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a champion equestrian and plays varsity soccer and lacrosse. In her spare time, she volunteers with various non-profit organizations, including a Los Angeles program for physically challenged children who learn to ride horses with assistance.

Her eyes are two different colors: Hazel and Blue. This condition is known as Heterochromia iridium. Those eyes make her all the more beautiful.

She recently starred with Kevin Spacey in Beyond the Sea (which I have yet to see) and she is currently shooting Superman Returns where she stars as Lois Lane.

Her transformation from girl next door to a beautiful young woman is just lovely. She's great! I think that this smart and beautiful 22-year old will make her mark in time.
