This is the second time I'm mentioning Billy Crawford. He's been on TV a lot, promoting his current album Big City, but I only got to see him on Straight Talk. Of course, it was another great Straight Talk episode. You can't help but be proud of him after you see how he's like. God bless him! Represent! LOL.
Some things I learned:
He was actually in a relationship with Mandy Moore for about 6 months. This was when Mandy was still starting out. They were both doing promotional tours.
Billy Crawford won best male international artist, beating Robbie Williams, Usher, and Will Smith at the NRJ music awards in Cannes, France on January 18, 2003. NRJ is a French-based radio group.
This year, he is once again nominated in the same category, again along side Robbie Williams.
He lived in the ghetto when his family moved to New York. He experienced racism first hand. He was the only Asian in his school. He was constantly picked on and ostracized. He said, "I had my burgers spit on everyday".
He's proud of his roots. He's keeping it real. When asked what image he was projecting, moving across different countries and continents he answers, "I'll always represent all the Flips".
