Ateneo gets beaten by La Salle.

From the get go, it seemed like bad news for the Eagles. Captain Huk was smoking hot, scoring a truck load of points in the opening minutes. It was downhill from there. Midway through the first quarter, La Salle even replaced their entire starting five and we still weren't able to catch up. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears as the lead slowly ballooned to over 30 points before the half ended.

We tried to catch up in the second half. We could have. We should have. And no, I won't credit La Salle's defense or offense for our loss. We weren't able to catch up because of our own faults. There were so many turnovers. I wouldn't say that we lacked heart though. Okay, maybe we did in the midst of the first half. But to be able to shrink the margin from more than 30 to a single digit lead definitely took heart. Perhaps, it was just too little, too late. Maybe some of the players got intimidated by their fears. Maybe they weren't mature enough for that level of play. But hey whatever reasons there could have been, it's okay. There's no need for excuses. It was still one big fight.

Check that: I'm not saying that La Salle doesn't deserve the win. They do. They played a hell of a game. They scored, they defended, they had heart. I'm just saying that we could have caught up and La Salle had no part in stopping us from catching up. It was our own fault.

Anyway, that's just another game in the eternity of Ateneo and La Salle games. And I suppose that's also another one-sided game summary from a true blue fan.

One Big Fight!!!
