Mighty Katipunan Tandangs

A crushing defeat for the Zebras of espanya
by Ranier Palanca

The Zebras of Espanya became "tapang kabayo" yesterday afternoon at the clutches of the Mighty Tandangs of Katipunan. The Tandangs, whose winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Recto-Based Barangay Tanods last Thursday, methodically disected the win-challenged Zebras right from the entrance of the Pasig Sports Conflicts.

Lead by their prolific guard Latte Norio, named for his caffeine like intensity, Arteneo jumped to an early 4-2 deficit silencing the "jokla" heckler at the courtside. The two teams runned (poetic license) and gunned the entire first half with no semblance of something called a half-court set, with the Tandangs passing the ball like crazy and the Zebras' star player Nueva Misscarra taking charge of not-passing and not-shooting the ball.

The game was close right upto the third quarter but Maxene Magalona was closer so all that could have been written here til that quarter was lost for all eternity.

The fourth quarter saw the Tandangs leading by 24 as it turned out to be a practice session for the
Tandangs' rookies as Jobe Nkmejjfgbksdnblnlf, Freddie Aguilar and Yuri Esquenita played with their ball, playing all kinds of sports like football, soccer and volleyball. Aguilar hovered around the basket turning away unrequited shots while Jobe held on to the ball and held on to the ball and held on to the ball to end what was by then a 15 point, 77-62, Arteneo win.

Top Honors went to Bajie Nagrosario for his all around effort of staying near the basket to catch Latte's passes.

Arteneo will be tested next Sunday by their archrivals, the Di-Nagdasal Manunumpits, 4pm at the Bayoneta Coliseum.

Damn. There really are blue roosters!
